Today I went out with my drone to capture more aerial 360° photos for my Hibiscus Coast Virtual Tour. My plan was to photograph Big Manly and Stanmore Bay (both on the northern side of Whangaparaoa peninsula). But as I was driving past Matakatia Bay (on the southern side) I decided to go and take a 360° photo there – conditions looked nice.
By complete chance orca were passing through the bay as I arrived and I got this video of them cruising around the coastline. At around 2:36 into the video they chase something – either a stingray or fish, hard to tell.
If you haven’t already seen it, I recommend you check out the orca video I shot back in 2016 of a kayaker swimming with the orca – it’s amazing!
